The BEST Pizza I’ve ever had…

•March 31, 2011 • Leave a Comment

Today was a crazy busy day at work, so I decided to goto Happy Hour with some co-workers at one of our favorite neighborhood bars. I had a great time talking about life’s transitions, and much more! It was getting late and I wanted to go home and have dinner with my Hubby! I didn’t pre-plan/pre-cook our meal this week so I prepared a quick meal for hubby and I fixed an AWESOME pizza for myself. It’s called Amy’s and it is delish! Since I’ve been loosing weight, I normally try to avoid carbs at dinner, but I was so excited to try it. I will have the rest for lunch tomorrow. I cannot wait to try the other flavors. Have you tried it?

Transitioning in age

•March 31, 2011 • Leave a Comment

Tomorrow I am turning 33. Yup, I said it, 33. Some women never want to talk about their age, but I don’t mind. Why? I’ve always been told I don’t look my age and I hope that I continue to look young like my mother and grandmother. I can tell that I’m transitioning into a more mature person. I used to take off for my birthday, not this year. I am going to welcome year 33 with hopes that I will have many more years to celebrate.

Two weeks ago, we celebrated my hubby’s 35th birthday! I have an intimate surprise birthday dinner for him at an AWESOME restaurant in Washington DC called OYA (www.oyadc.com). I highly suggest the restaurant. The scallops made my mouth water and I desired more. We also stayed in DC at a great boutique hotel called Hotel Rouge, right off of Dupont Circle. I am so excited to see what hubby will do for me as I transition into 33.

I’m Back…

So, It’s been a while since I’ve posted, but there have been multiple transitions going on. I will have to go into details soon. Right now, I just got home and want to relax with my hubby before bedtime. I hope to post on a regular basis, daily even starting tomorrow or Monday at the VERY latest. It’s my birthday weekend and I want to celebrate!!!

So, it’s see you later, not goodbye!

Freelance Issues

Today I had some issues with a client. It’s not just a regular client, but a client I’ve known for almost 10 years.

What? How can that be? Issues with a client you have that long? YES. that is possible, TRUST ME!

I’m not going to go into details of the issue I had, but I will tell you this. I know now what I need to do from this point forward.
My husband always tells me that I’m too nice..and I agree. I really need to set some boundaries and learn how to be a little stern with some things like the following:

 – Set specific work hours so that after a certain time, unless I have given you approval, you cannot and should not call me. It is inappropriate to call me after 10pm. I know I am freelancing, but it is like a job. If I don’t answer, leave a detailed message and I will receive it. I don’t know about you, but I do have a life outside of freelance design.

– Make a DETAILED schedule of the project, provide a copy to the client , make sure that they review the schedule and sign-off. If the schedule is not signed off, I will NOT move forward with the project.

– Provide the client with a pricing guide and the detailed price for their project. Make sure you let them know how much you charge for edits, if you actually do the typing (some people actually think your pricing includes you typing everything up-lol!), and more

– Explain what you do and DO NOT do as a designer. Some people think you do everything and some may. Like myself, I do websites, if someone asks me to, but I don’t talk about it much because I have a love for print design. That’s what I went to school for and that’s what I love. I LOVE PAPER!!!!

– Keep track of the time spent working on each project. Even if you charge per project and not hourly, keep track. I charge by the hour for most projects so it great to keep track. I make it a point to tell people when they ask, how long it typically takes me to design a flyer or an email marketing campaign. This way, I can give them an estimate and it can go slightly above or below that time frame.

There are more things to keep in mind, but you’ll have to wait till next time!

Hey!
This morning was chilly…and I love it

I LOVE Fall. I simply love Fall colors: Burnt Orange, Cranberry, Army Green, Charcoal, Navy Blue, and many more!
I will wear those colors in my clothes, stockings, hair accessories, coats, gloves, purses, shoes and makeup.

I love clothes and would love to lose weight so that I can shop in my favorite stores.

Join me on my natural transition towards a healthy lifestyle

GM all!

The Freshman 15. I know it entered my life over 14 years ago, but I’ve managed to lose it and gain it back a few times. Now, in my early 30’s I’ve learned to appreciate my curves. I would have to say that I am blessed in areas where women are purchasing their body parts, I have them naturally.  But, I know for health reasons, I need to lose at least 75=100 pounds to be what society calls healthy. I am about 5’3″ and I weight around 225lb. I am not ashamed because I wear it VERY well. I’ve heard, don’t lose weight, you’re fine the way you are. Or, you look better with meat on your bones, you’re pretty for a plus size girl, you have a beautiful smile. All those compliments are nice, but, I want to be healthy AND all of those things. Eventually, I want to have children and be able to play with them.

So, what do I have to do? I need to naturally transition into a healthier lifestyle. No, not go on a diet, but a lifestyle change. I am a “fake” vegetarian. I’ve been a vegetarian for over 4 years now, but every now and then, I sneak some pork bacon into my life. Haahaa. I do eat seafood too, but I don’t eat beef, chicken, turkey and other forms of pork. I know…why do I have trouble losing weight then? I have a love for sweets, bread, coffee/tea and sour patch kids!

But I am ready for this transition. I hope to start next week with my hubby and a co-worker, on a new, detailed journey towards a healthy lifestyle. Why don’t you join me ?

Ready. Set. Go.
